Is WalMart the store we go to now?

Target has been in the news lately - and it hasn't been good. There is anecdotal evidence that shoppers are reluctant to shop at Target. The situation is unfortunate because Target is a great store and my favorite place to shop. It will take some time for them to repair their image, but it will be repaired in time. In the meantime, what is the first store you think of if you aren't going to Target? WalMart, of course.  As a trader I think it is very important to avoid predicting the future. No one can do it, especially not me! But, sometimes, you just can't avoid it. I think it's highly likely that business will improve at Walmart as a reaction to ...

The WalMart Options trade continues….

Today, I sold 3 more Jan2 14 78 Puts. One at 39 cents, the second at 42 cents, and the third at 45 cents. The 7 contract position now has an average price of about 38 cents each. The contract is trading at 44 cents, for a 6 cent loss. If closed today, the entire position would lose $42. This is a small and manageable loss. The sales process, where I opened the position at 30 cents and continued to sell all the way to 45 cents today, works well as a risk management tool. When I originally started this trade, if I would have sold the same 7 contracts at 30 cents, I would be down $98. This position has two days left to expiration but WalMart is now ...

The WalMart Trade Begins……

I have a system for entering a trade. This system has many subtle decision points and is thoroughly explained to all subscribers. The WalMart trade begins like this:On January 6 I sold one weekly 78 Put for 30 cents. On the same day, I also sold another for 33 cents and a third for 36 cents. The average price for selling these 3 puts was 33 cents, so I took in $99. Today, January 7, I sold another for 39 cents. Total cash taken in is now $138. The goal for a short put options trade is to keep as much of the cash as possible, using management skills. The option contract that I sold expires in 3 days. But, for now, I am still in the position-building ...

Trading WalMart – the anti-Union Devil……

I have some Facebook friends who continually pass along hateful anti-WalMart propaganda. It's always very negative and usually seeks to damage someone by twisting the truth. I believe WalMart is a great American Corporation. This constant focus on a negative message will blind you to opportunities that are everywhere, but only IF you allow yourself to look for them. I have decided to counter all of this with a positive message. I have started trading Walmart to show my Liberal friends what can be accomplished with a positive attitude, and also to illustrate the other side of the coin - you can work to tear down a great American Corporation, or you ...
